We are happy to announce the addition of a new column, which will be written by Al Goldberg. This column will focus primarily on tackle selection and techniques to help hone your skills and improve your fishing. We will also include a Q & A section where Al will try to answer specific questions related to tackle and rigging.

Al is well known to Northeast fishing community. He has fished from Florida to Maine. Al grew up in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn and mated as a young boy on some of the great old boats of the late 50's and early 60's. As he grew up he eventually migrated east along the south shore of Long Island, fishing for many years in Freeport and Captree. Eventually he ended up in Montauk. Most weekends from May to December he is prowling somewhere between Montauk and Orient Point with his diehard crew of Lorry Mangan and Crazy Alberto chasing whatever is in season.

Al is active in the New York Sportfishing Federation as a speaker and instructor in their Teach A Kid fishing program. He also writes for the Long Island Fisherman and is active in their Send A Kid Fishing program. Al is a custom rod builder for almost 25 years and is an sought after speaker for local fishing clubs. He also speaks throughout New England on custom rod building and is a long time member of Rodcrafters, the national association of custom rod builders.

Al has more than 40 years experience fishing with some of the best fishermen and captains on Long Island. We welcome Al to our site and ask you to please e-mail us with specific topics that you would like to see discussed in his column.
