The 4th New England Rodcrafters Seminar
The 4th New England Rodcrafters Seminar was held at the Quality Inn and Conference Center in Vernon, CT. This was the fourth Rodcrafters seminar held in New England at the Quality Inn and was the most successful of all with a great program, record attendance and excellent accommodations.
Fifty rod builders from Pennsylvania to Maine spent two full days together participating in 22 talks and demonstrations covering all aspects of rod building. Attendees were from all levels of expertise with many attendees giving a talk or demonstration on a particular subject. The two highlights of the program were talks given by Todd Vivian, Lamiglas blank designer and product manager, and Ron Arra, four times U.S. distance casting champion. Todd spoke on Lamiglas new products for 2000, blank design and manufacturing and showed a short video of the Lamiglas factory blank production process. Ron Arra gave a talk on Power Casting and Rod Design. Both talks were very informative and were well received by the group.
Many of the attendees brought rods and tools to show. This is part of the learning and sharing process. There were light fly and spinning rods to 11-foot surf and giant tuna rods on display, and everything in between. The rods were built by both novice and advanced builders and all showed a high level of craftsmanship.
Many of the attendees made plans to attend the Rodcrafters National Seminar to be held in Allentown, PA on Saturday and Sunday, March 11th and 12th, 2000. Rod builders from all over the U.S. and overseas will be coming. It is a great program. There will also be a huge Flea Market with an opportunity to purchase rod blanks and components at great prices. For further information contact Dale Clemens Tackle, 610-395-5119 or email Al Goldberg.
