BAY
A little rough getting out, 3-4 foot
seas with a few minutes of 4-6 foot "rogues" which proved
to be bunker busters, literally. Plenty of chunk chumminą.
Did not being fishing until a little before 2am. Bite
was quick upon anchoring, with 3 yellowfin landed between
40-60 pounds. Several small swordfish hooked, biggest
was around 70-80 lbs. All got off or were released.
While hooked, one larger swordfish was chased by a large
blue shark. Nice activity. Squid bite was light to moderate
throughout the night on pink and blue squid jigs. A
little later on a larger yellowfin around 110 pounds
was landed. Just after sunrise, heavy hit on butterfish
at 110 feet. 80 pound test with 100 pound flurocarbon,
8.0 hook with flawless butterfish presentation. 40 minute
fight with two anglers landed the 180 pound "big guy."
Sashimi mighty tasty. Rogue workiną. Squid on.

BEACH
On my way to Zacks bay around 4 PM.
I tried an umbrella rig with red tubes in about 12 feet
of water picked up two bass both of legal size, one
came home for dinner, one went free. 10/22/01- Took
Jim and Evan out for some night Bassin in Jones inlet.
Caught the beginning of the incoming, wind was in opposite
direction, poor drifts. "Wind out of the North and east,
fish bite the least." Moved to the rip east of the "Big
M." After several drifts one bass in the boat. Just
met the legal size , 28," so I sent him free to fight
another day. More fisherman should try this, setting
them free that is. Taken on an eel drifted just off
the bottom.

CANYON
Well I had the trip of a lifetime on
the Keri Lee. We killed some fish in the deep just south
of the Hundred Square in the Deep. We banged 17 fish
for five hours, until we filled the fish hold. I was
on all of the fish ecxept for 2 or 3. We had 2 albacore
up to forty pouds and the yellows were between 60-110
lbs. We broke off some bigger fish, and stopped fishing
at 3:00 because we had no where else to put fish.
