"Fishing is not a Crime"
Some people need something to keep themselves busy, because their lives are a vacuum. Just a few days ago I was fishing at Field 6 at Jones Beach...I had hooked on a nice weakfish and was as happy as a kid on christmas morning. I played it out and pulled him through the suds. Two young women walking down the beach jumped in my face and in a fake panic screamed at me, "you're going to let that fish go aren't you?!" I looked at them like I look at the meter maid who just gave me a ticket (if you get my drift) and I said, "no, I'm going to eat this puppy for dinner tonight." They made a dramatic scene and walked off. This is not the first time that I've experienced this. It is not a crime to catch and eat your fish. It's been done since before Jesus was fishing with St. Peter on a dock. It is not a crime for commercial fishermen to earn his keep on his fishing boat. Where do people think the fish their eating in a restaurant is coming from...a factory? I live by catch and release, but I also love to eat certain fish every now and then. And it is not a crime, only for those with narrow minds and narrow eyes.
