"Bait vs. Artificial"
Arrogance and the fishermen's high society club. It's a joke. I believe in anarchy. A true fisherman uses all his tools to catch fish. To put one over another is pure ego.
Let's say there's a blitz of blues on the beach. It takes no talent to use a surface popper. Fisherman "A" could cut a broom handle, attach a hook on the back and paint it green...they'd rip it apart. So let's say Fisherman "B" throws in a fresh cut piece of bunker and nails a bruiser, does that make him a hack? NOT!!!
There are different scenarios for all kinds of fishing. One day, I caught a beautiful 34 pound striper and released 6 fish over 20 pounds...a guy in a four wheeler was watching me and asked what lure I was using. I told him that I was using sandworms on a slip sinker and he gave me a shrug of his shoulders and drove off saying, "anyone could do that". Well if I remember right he had zero fish. If he had come prepared, I'd bet a hundred dollars that he'd be smiling ear to ear while he was fighting a massive cow on a sandworm.
I use everything. Hell sometimes I'll bring everything and the kitchen sink...bunker, sandworms and my favorite lures...just to be sure that I'm prepared.
Let's not leave out fly fishermen...the socially correct fishermen for the 90's.
To catch the fish you must know your structure, especially bait fishermen. You need to know where the holes are, the cuts in the beach, tide tables, phases of the moon, yada yada yada.
Some fishermen think that they're so special that they use one method over another. Get real! So let's all not get so high and almighty...we're fishing together...can't we all get along and hold hands at sunset and respect one another's space. Maybe then we can have world peace. NOT!
