"Twin Lakes - Wantagh"

I understand that I can't save the world, or even change my wife's mind. But Twin Lakes is a small spot on Long Island that I have a history with since I was able to walk. It has gone through a few changes and has survived all these years.
Allowing boats in Twin Lakes is a joke, especially with electric trolling motors. It's a pond for goodness sake. Today I just lost it.
There was not one boat but three with a fourth going in, all with electric trolling motors. One with 4 overgrown idiots in it. (I say it as it is.) When I told one of these genius that no trolling motors were allowed. He just gave me the one-toothed mentality, mouthing off - "Where are the D.E.C. Postings about regulations?" And, to top it off, the guy next to him had a large-mouth bass dead and lying in the boat. Okay, genius, it's a no kill bass lake. And it's not even open season for them. This gets better. I had to ask "how many of you have a fishing license?" "That's none of your business." they replied. Guess what? If any one of them had a license it would have been a miracle.
As I was walking down the path, there was a certain special fellow fishing with 4 poles, by himself for carp. Let's see, four poles...What's wrong with this picture, you tell me. Then I get to my spot and I see two trees with graffiti.
Hello out there...Where the @%#$ are the D.E.C.? Within one day I could fix Long Island's deficit with all of these fines. So, I had to hear the one-toothed wonders scream and yell at me from their skiffs, "Who the heck are you?" I am someone who still gives a damn about this one small lake - Twin Lakes. Someone who would like to see it not become a fished out human garbage pail.
