We were so happy to find your site since we have been sitting
inside missing fishing. It brought back memories of this past fluke season(one
of the best in recent years)We especially liked seeing articles on sheepshead
bay (We go out on the Elsie K Princess) and Montauk(We fish on the Lazybones)
and Orient Point(We fish on the Primetime III and we charter the Sundowner). We
will be visiting it often.(were putting on our favorites list) thanks again.
-- Bill and Barbara Elliott
I really enjoy your page. I am an avid outdoorsman. Been fishing
all my life. This year has been the best year fishing that I can remember, and
I have had some great years. I pray that the good Lord keeps blessing us with
the clean pure water, and an abundance of fish. I also pray that all of the
fisherman keep a conservation heart so that we can pass the abundance to our
children and their children.
-- Neal Jackson
site seems great.

myself and my two boys. Like our picture with the bluefin.
-- Hank Kaufman
Breath of fish air. Keep it up.
-- Marty Quint L.B.
Having moved to Sydney Australia I had lost contact with fishing on Long
Island. The internet has provided me with the action of the fall run of
bass and blues. It is quite a trip down memory lane. I look foward to the
reports and hope to be on Long Island next year. I hope thwe fishing will
be just as good.
--Nick
I just bought a boat and can't wait to apply what I have learned through
reading your webpage.Your really good at what you do.Thanx alot.
--Ray Ramos
Top notch video. Great site
-- Stuart H. Weiss
Just a brief note to thank you for the information you provide and the
great way that you present it. It is very informative, practical and to
the point. I have read much from many sources, but none that provide all
of the needed elements and the required detail as you do. Experience is
one thing that many writers have, but few that I have come across have the
ability or desire to share ALL of that experience with others. I have sporadically
fished both shores of Long Island and the New Jersey coastal waters for
the past fifty years, with an occasional foray to Race Point or Cox's ledge.
I love the surf and deep sea fishing in my quest for a moby linesider. Thanks
again and all the best!
-- Bob Wilk
Your site is like a breath of fish air- keep up the good work. Show that
tightass over at noreast how to be a mench.
-- Marty Quint
Great info on fishing from this website. I wish we had this
when I lived on the North shore out east near Orient Pt. Am now in Fla. &
restricted to slow down my fishing time. It was a pleasure to see your news
on line.
-- "DOC" Colombo
Your great web site is now even better! For people like
me, stuck in the office instead of out there fishing, you have keep my sanity
intact. Thanks.
--Joe Tsien
Gotta tell ya, this is the best fishing page I've seen

--Alan W.

--Ira
I want to say thank you for a very imformitive web site.
This is my first time using it. Please add me to your e-mail list as I am
an avid fisherman and I will report back to you my results. Keep up the
good work.
-- Mark Storm
Hi Al, I am one of your devoted reader and always appreciate
for your wonderful columns. I live in New Jersey and could not find any
"silver bullet jigs" from any local tackle stores. Can you help me where
I can get them ? I have never tried fluke fishing with this rig that you
mentioned in the column and I really want to try it. Thank you and please
keep up with your wonderful job !!! p.s. If you have any further advise
on using this rig, I would much appreciate it.
-- Young K. Kim

to you soon.

Thanks for the
updates. I'm a regular visitor to the site. Keep up the good work.
-- Frank
Dave! I can't thank
you enough for the advice you gave me nearly a month ago. I didn't have a clue
as to where the good fishing was in Long Island until I stumbled upon your site.
Let me say that upon going through your pages, I was thoroughly schooled in
the where's and when's of ocean fishing! What a great site! Keep it up! It is
an invaluable resource. Your advice to take the Marlin V fishing boat was right
on the money! The four of us, my girlfriend, Naoko, two of her Japanese friends,
and myself, took the Hampton Jitney out on Saturday afternoon. We went out for
Fluke Sunday morning, and brought back 6 whoppers, which we promptly cooked
up and ate for lunch! During that trip, Naoko also caught a 3 ft. dogfish! The
skates were numerous, but so were the fluke. The crew was very friendly and
patiently taught my little group the ropes. After taking in the beautiful sights,
we went back out on the Marlin V for some night Striped Bass. Wow! What a great
time! It was so exciting! Completely pitch-black because of the cloud cover,
our ship was tossing in a void of nothingness. And out of the black, we hauled
out these massive fish! That night, we netted 4 keepers, one rounding out around
32 lbs! Holy Cow! I never saw a fish like that before in my life. And, once
again, kudos to the mates. The only thing was that we could not stay in the
hotel you recommended, but we ended up staying at the Montauk Manor. Needless
to say, we were all suitably impressed with the whole affair! We took some photos,
but, being the neophyte I am, I failed to get the shot of the 6 fluke together,
or the 4 bass. :o( Luckily, I DO have a shot of one of the fish caught. In the
photo are the first mate, my girlfriend, Naoko, and one soon to be eaten striper!
Once again, thank you so much! I have passed on your URL to all my buddies with
a firm thumbs-up.
- - Peter
Dave, Great site. You
are a very entertaining writer and have hit the nail on the head in alot of
instances. I agree with your numerous opinions. Hopefully I will run into you
on the Doris Mae during a upcoming overnighter.

To Dave. Thank you
for your support. I'm the gentleman who you ran into on the surf Sunday
who caught the week fish practically one handed. Again this is really such
a great thing your doing hear and I'm turning your website on to all my
frinds. I'll be at that same spot on the surf on most weekends.
--Brad Lippman
Hi Dave, what a great
site I have been looking at your site for about four months and always return.

Dave,I am now two years
living in the North Country of New York around freshwater a lot of it. When
I visited your website, it brought me back to a lot of good fishing around
the waters of Long Island which I plan to spend some time fishing on the
party boats around the Island, and visiting a lot of my fishing buddies
like Dave Robinson. And I can't forget a lot of the Captains. Keep the good
work up.
--Wendell Haynes
Dave, thank you very
much for this wonderful service. God bless you and your family.
--With much appreciation, Matt Koch Levittown, LI
Hey Dave, First let
me tell you that your site is great, everything I need is right at my fingertips.

the island. I'm from setauket/PJ and I've fished just about everywhere but

Dave, This is a great
website. I have not fished Sheepshead Bay for many years, however, I will
start fishing their again soon, probably this weekend. Blackfishing is over
in Long Island. I remember catching some great blackfish there in the past.
Please keep us diehard fishing persons updated on the fishing action, especially
the winter season.
--George Y. - Islip, New York
Dave - Thanks for giving
my kids a helping hand at the DEC fishing festival. With your help we caught
a load of trout. Love your web site and will be a frequent visitor. Have
already told 10 friends.
--Keep a wet line - Jim Sommermeyer
I've been on the boat
a couple of times and I think the whole crew is the best. The mates have
a lot of knowlegde on whats going on and I never expected that. Thank you
for the good time.
--Jemma Kim
Thanks for a GREAT
website. I fished the surf at Moriches Inlet and Smith Point for a bunch
of years and I live in Idaho now. I feel like I am back on the beach again.
Keep up the awesome work.
--Jeff
you still have a wonderful
web site and i still read it .
--H. Browne, Sarasota , Florida
First, let me take
this opportunity to say that I love your site. Also, I wanted to express
my sincere gratitude for all the information that you constantly update
for your fellow fishermen. I really enjoy checking in on a daily basis for
the "Fellow Fishermen Reports." Your site is the most interesting and informative
of all the different sites out there. It covers such a wide base of fishing
information, that I refuse to look at any other sites. Thank you.
--Andrew R.
Hi, Charles - My sister,
Genevieve Silveroli (of Sterling Commerce fame), told me about your website.
I'm glad I checked it out because I really like your philosophy on introducing
kids to the pleasures of fishing. I started my son Nicholas out at age two,
and now at five years old he regularly out-fishes me! My daughter Arden
is only 19 months old, but already shows a fascination for the fish that
her brother and I catch in our backyard pond.
--Paul B., Jefferson, Ohio
Dave, Have spent some
(too much) time prowling around your site. Very enjoyable. Particularly
enjoyed the West Coast long range trip reports - very well done. Keep it
up.
--Curt
Please put me on your
mailinglist. Your webpage and reports are great, keep em coming.
--KBacchus
I really enjoyed visiting
your helpful web site. I would highly appreciate adding my name to your
mailing list.

Nice pictures of the
Blue Fish blitzing at Jones beach. I am now in NC and those pictures bring
back memories. Great Web site keep up the good work.
--Harry
I love the web site.
It is the first one I have found with some decent information on it. And
trust me, I have been looking for a long time. Anyway, I need some tips
on surf casting off of fire Island. I usually stick to fluking in the summer
and catching some bass off of my boat, but I want to give it a try. Do you
know Where I can find some good tips? Also, im going on a party fishing
boat in Montauk soon.....what would be my best bet for the money?......Fluking
or something else? Thanks for the great site
--Doug
I was just passing
through and finally found something I could use. Looking forward to reading
alot more of your site. It's now in my bookmarks #1.
--pdj99
Al & Dave.....thanks
for a great time in Montauk...an experience we will savour for a long time....good
friends - great fishing....best regards from across the big pond (England).
--Peter and Chris
A friend from Florida
turned me on to this site. Formally from Mass Pk. I am now living in the
middle of the flippin' desert in Las Vegas for 6 years and this made me
realize how much I miss the fishing action. There are stripers in Lake Mead
but attempting to fish from shore is really bad and fishing from a boat
isn't easy either as you have to watch your lines with all the damn sea
doos out here.My 4 wheel drive still has all the rod racks on the roof and
I still have my LI beach fishing permit from 1993 on the dash board. People
are always asking what are those things on your roof! Throw my ashes over
the great South Bay when I die!
--Wayne Bach
Al, What a great web
site, with lots of info., from rod building, to inshore to offshore fishing.
I am positive this will grow bigger every month and year's to come. Best
Wishes and Tight Lines!!!!
--Ron Arra
Alberto, It's great
to have you help so many people, from offshore to inshore, fishing aspects
hope to meet with you again in NY. Best Wishes and Tight Lines!!!
--Ron Arra
Super web site, probably
the best fishing website i've ever seen. I think long island should promote
u and u should take over Rich Johnson's job.
--Cowledge
I love the web site.
It is the first one I have found with some decent information on it. And
trust me, I have been looking for a long time.
--Doug
This it what i've been
looking for. again thank you this is the best....
--RLJ4102
Dave -It was "reely"
great fishing with all you regulars on the Viking Starship on it's first-
although shortened trip of this season. I want to thank you and all the
guy's for being just who you are -a great bunch of guys to go fishing with-
I really felt comfortable and confident even though I didn't know what I
was doing- losing two fish is just the experience I need to be better prepared
and relaxed for next time. I booked the next three-day trip for Oct.9th
just to get a spot before it fills up.It's a-Sat. through Mon. A little
easier on the work schedule.I'll send you pictures as soon as I have them.
Fish with you soon.
--Vince
Love your site, the
BEST on L.I. fishing....please add me to your list!

:-)

-- Adam Schalit
After fishing the South
shore of Long Island for 30 yrs. I am now in North Carolina, Your web site
combines the best of both worlds.
--Harry Sloan, North Carolina
Dave. Thanks for a
great web site, It makes me feel like I'm back home on Long Island at the
east end. I live down here in Florida because of a back problem I got from
a auto accident in 1989. I fished the surf in Montauk for more then 25 years
and was the founder and first president of the Montauk Surfcasters Association.
I started MSA in the early 80s with a good friend of mine Jack Yee, if anyone
surf fished Montauk on a regular bases you have to know Jack. Well Dave
just wanted you to know getting into your web site really makes me feel
GOOD and right at home, I have seen other L.I. fishing reports but yours
is complete.
--Tony
I just checked out
your web site for the first time. I thought it was great. I'll definetly
be reading from time to time .
--Tom
Thanks for allowing
me to keep up with what's going on back home. Since moving to Florida this
allows me to prepare for my two or three full moon trips to Montauk or the
Gut.

I think your web site
is just terrific. I was introduced to it only today and have just finished
a wonderful couple of hours just browsing and learning a lot about fishing
on Long Island. You already have yourself a devoted fan and I want to thank
you for making such wonderful leisure time for a retired old guy. Keep those
reports coming, and, by the way, I already sent you my first joke. I hope
you like it!!!!!!
