Capt. Mike - Howard Beach

Sunday, April 28, 1997

The weather was incredible and the fishing was a pick here and there, because the water temps had dropped a bit. Even though there were some very nice flounder with over weight problems!

On the boat I struck up a conversation with a few fishermen from Merrick, Long Island...hard core fishermen. My kind of people. In the conversation one of these young men told me that he had had cancer and was a survivor because of a bone marrow transplant. The donor was a man he had never met before. They had just gotten together on Mike's boat as part of their reunion. It struck me to the heart. Fishermen have their hearts in the right place. I fished with these guys for the day...the pictures say everything. By the way the donor won the pool with a 3 lb. flounder. He was already a winner in my book.

As for the rest of the trip, the crew was aces as always. And Mike had covered every inch of that bay to connect with fish as always. So come on down to Howard Beach and enjoy some great fishing time on Mike's boat. The boat leaves at 8 AM sharp...don't be late.
