Look guys, it's a little bit of a trip but well worth it. It takes about 1-1 1/2 hours to get to Barnegat Light from New York City. But once you're there, this boat smokes across the sea. it is one of the fastest party boats on the east coast.

So you spend less time traveling and more time fishing! Also, this boat is quick to move from spot to spot, where other boats can't because of the time it takes. The Doris Mae is 100 feet long, which means ample space to fish without being crowded one on top of the other. They also limit the number of people on the boat to 24. There are real bunks for everyone to sleep on the trip out...a definate plus.

I was impressed by the mates...they took pride in helping all the customers. They rigged all the rods and their rod rentals were not a bad science experiment. All the rods were in great shape...not busted "wanna be" rods. The boat even brought live porgies to be used as bait during the day. The Captain was always updating the fishermen on the fish depth. It wasn't a top secret, only to be handed out to a special few.

The crowd was a great group of fishermen and the tuna were there, but you had to work for them. Change up the bait...try different line test...until you got those bugga's to bite! The fish were not biting at night but...believe it or not...during the daytime. It was a pleasure to see the boat produce fish. I had a few line screamers myself...good for the heart! It is definately a late tuna bite this year...go figure.

I had a good day tuna fishing and I only see it improving. Some big albacore were brought up and some nice yellow fin. Jigging definately out did bait fishing...I watched three guys jigging and doing a bang up job on those tuna. You lose alot jigging, but it's all part of the game....there's nothing like the rush that you get when you're jigging and a tuna comes up and bangs on your line...there's no second guessing if you have a fish on!

Thank you very much for having me on for a great day of fishing! P.S. Go now, only a few trips left. This is my hot tip of the week...move it or lose it!
