Ice Fishing

Walk upon the open white light.

Silence rushes through you.

Your eyes look upon the wide open space.

As life rushes beneath your feet.

A deer cracks the silence upon the frozen banks.

You watch as she runs into the thicket and disappears into the winter's hush.

You tred across a clear canvas yet written in the snow.

The trees crackle as the wind blows through their winter sleep.

You drill and shave the ice into crystal clear water.

You then sweep the ice away and drop a line.

You look around, the sounds of the rushing city slips away to a whisper.

Your line tugs.

You pull...a smile comes across you as you pull a gift from above.

You hold the fish in your hand as the light glistens off it's red streaked and silver body.

Its simplicity is pure joy...you let it slide back into the crystal clean water and drop again.

Life stops for a second in time.
