Fluke fishing is heating up with quality fish. The water is still very cold. So fish slowly don't be bouncing like a Mexican jumping bean on four cups of espresso. Slowwwww down your presentation. Go with the flow, Luke Skywalker. Get my drift...when conditions are like this let the fish eat. So when you feel the bite let back some line count to two Mississippi and then start lifting that rod... wait to feel that thumping and then set the hook. Do not lower your rod keep that rod bent hold that tension, just make sure your drag is set right with your line ahead of time.

I see thousands of fluke lost over people dropping their rods... pumping up and down like they're fighting a tuna. A little finesse goes a long way, especially when mister double digits comes along you'll be ready. The Hudson Anglers had a good time. Get ready for their shark tournament coming up in Freeport. This weekend, if the weather holds out, I see Mattituck busting wide open...I smell it coming. So get out there and take my advice. Enjoy! I'm going out for three days on the deep water adventure that has always been good to me. I only hope to see some of you on the boat!
