"The Viking Three Day Trip" - Montauk

August 30-31, 1999

The tuna are here don't be fooled, but the weather isn't. However with in a week we'll be in for smooth sailing. I went out on the 3 day Viking trip which made it half way. We started trolling and George Jehn was on in a heart beat. We teamed up and I was on next with a yellowfin.

Then Jim Tynan hooked up with the pool fish which was a descent 30 pound albacore. A few more tuna got hooked up and then the winds began to howl. The seas kept growing by the hour and it was time to go home quickly. The weather man's call was far from reality...the winds were up to 55 mile gusts with a constant 30 mile an hour bum rush.

Anyway, heck, blame Mother Nature. Blame the weather man, but don't blame Capt. Rich, he made his call. The new mates on the trip are definately good. The Viking gave out free trip tickets which I thought was pretty cool. I got some pretty great shots of Mother Nature having a tantrum. The next 3 day trip is just about maxed out. So don't mess around...get hooked up. It should be a really great trip as long as Mother Nature chills out.
