Tuna Blitz on the Viking - Part 2

The new mates are a great bunch of guys. They were clean, polite and kept the boat running tip top. Steve was on the mark on fish, and his record shows. And the fishing was the tops.

Hey look, I'm tired of writing how good the tuna fishing is in Montauk, this is a no brainer. But tuna fishing does not hook themselves, you have to work your lines and keep the bait fresh.

Don't leave it out there for hours, change it. Don't go cheap on hooks, spend the money, go get some circle hook, Gamakatsu or Pro razor sharp hooks. Mickey Mouse swivels don't make tuna fishing. Ball bearing swivels can handle a 100 plus tuna. Change your line, make sure it's fresh, not sitting in the garage on your reel from last year. Check your drag, set it properly to what you can handle and don't leave your rod unattended. Always have a buddy system going on those long nights. Try to tie a few rigs ahead of time...and be sure to bring a rod to jig with.

Hey I just want you guys to catch more fish and lose less, I'm guilty. Lose another one and I'll have to shoot you, only kidding! Anyway, all in good fun. There are only a few spots left on the offshore trips. Book them now with a friend and go have some fun.
