Maiden Tuna Voyage - Brooklyn VI - Part 1

September 26-27, 1999

Every boat has its routine or history to it, and the Brooklyn VI has hers. A hard core fishing machine out there to catch the fish, period!

The crew on the Brooklyn VI is seasoned, no Mickey Mouse routine here. Straight up fishing. Tuna means not getting cheap with chum and using good bait for it. They had more selection of mackerel, butter bumker you name it. And the mate never stopped chuming for a minute, the whole trip he kept the click going. That is important to keep the puppies by the boat and draw them in.

Robert is one of my favorite captains, always on top of things. He was psyched to get to the grounds and do some tuna fishing. The Brooklyn is a swift, fast boat, it's not doing the grandma crawl. In short, more fishing time for you.

I was really impressed by how hard the mates worked to keep the tuna on and not cut lines. When you go tuna fishing, you're going to drop a few, it's part of the business. You're not fluke fishing here. I watched Robert gaff those tuna, they were not going anywhere fast.
