Porgy Fishing on the Ocean Eagle - Sheepshead Bay

To be really honest about this species of fish, I'm not a porgy lover. But there are those who love porgies. Since I was a kid, I always remember that my next door neighbor would go nuts when he heard the porgies were biting in Long Island Sound. He would come home with apple baskets of them and give my mother a ton of them.

Which brings me to the Ocean Eagle. I went with Al and caught porgies all day long. I watched others and they couldn't get enough, porgy after porgy. They were not jumbos, but keepers and a lot of throw backs. Still, the keepers filled their baskets. I guess some traditions never die and porgy fishing is one of those traditions. So all of you porgy fishermen, go have a blast and get your fill.
