Revenge on the Blackfish
Nancy Ann - Orient Point
I went back out to Orient Point on a mission of "search and fillet." A blackfish will be on my skillet tonight and I'll "get your little dog too." Blackfishing is the zen of fishing . You have to become one with Mr. Blackfish, sense him out. They never ever bite the same way twice. Lazy fishing does not apply here, oh no! That line must be tight as a piano wire feeling for that elusive bite. Then the light lift to feel his presence and slam him. Pull him off his rock condominium or he's going to slam his door and you are in Snag City, USA. The only thing to do then is slack up immediately and see if he walks out and rip him up ever so quickly.
Well let me tell you, I did my damage and limited out with the blackfish grin on my face, ha-ha-ha. Brought my good friend Mr. Jim Otis. Did I tell you it was rocking and rolling out there? We were getting a little banged up. Jim got a little green and lost his cookies but recovered quickly and slammed those blackfish limiting out easily with fish to 5 lbs. Not bad considering this was his first blackfish trip ever. Don't you just hate that? That's big Jim's way.
Al and his crew of buddies did a slam up job. So I guess revenge is sweet. I cooked up the best blacken blackfish you ever ate in your life, about 6 lbs. of fillets. Jim and my family ate until they burst. Now that my boys and girls is a fisherman's #10 day. It's as good as it gets. Thank you St. Peter and the luck of Al Goldberg's Jewish lightning rod!
