Shinnecock Star - Shinnecock

June 2, 2000

The day was picture perfect for my son's birthday. The pictures don't lie, they only enhance a number 10 day. Captain John has an ideal location for great fluke fishing with quick access to some of Long Island's best hot spots. Fishing for fluke in Shinnecock Bays has been superb for the last two years going...and this year is no different. You absolutely must make a reservation to get a spot when the fishing is good...secrets don't last forever.

My son Michael was not even trying, just a lazy spring morning day dreaming, when he tied this puppy on. His Uncle Barry was doing a good job on some quality fishing. On this day the fish seemed to want the meat. Nice fluke belly strips to have for breakfast and white bucktail teasers was the ticket for color. Not a bad half day for fluke over 6 lbs.

Barry and I would have killed to stay for the second half of the day, but Michael was "King for the Day" and had birthday plans, so grunting to myself, off we went.
