Capt. Lou VI - Freeport

Capt. Smitty
Thursday, July 31, 1997

The full day trip on the Captain Lou VI left at 8 AM...I was in a rush, as always. It was a #10 day for the summer...a cool breeze and a good easy drift. The boat was fast and swift to the ground, and with Smitty at the helm it doesn't get any better.

I'm sorry if this sounds perfect...but it was...where were you? The old and young sharpies were all on this boat. The fluke were a good size, hardly a throw back at all. Today was as simple as it gets...a slow drag with a live killie, not the norm for the ocean...but it was today. Slow hard work paid off for those who limited out. Green was the color for the bucktail as always...my personal favorite.

This is how the count went for some: Helen Weller caught a 5 lb. momma fluke, two 3 pounders and nine 2 pounders...her Husband caught one, almost 2 pounds...maybe. As for the crew, they are great...a good sense of humor and right there when you need them. They get four stars.

As for the boat...clean, fast and good food to snack or for lunch. Great for kids...with cartoons, if they get bored. Head on down and tell them that Dave sent you!
