I have no idea what a certain newspaper writer was writing when they said that in Montauk, there were few fluke over 5 lbs. Dude, drink more coffee will ya'. Hot Smoking News. Fluke fishing was a dream. We smoked them, I totally lost count.
My good friends, Barry and Matt, were there to witness the insanity. We gave up calling for a stinking net. My psycho friends and I were throwing 3 lbs. on the boat. I threw a fish about 6 lbs. into the boat. We had four fish left between the four of us before we limited out, by 12 noon on a full day trip. So I said, "Guys, nothing under 4 lbs." People were sick to their stomachs watching us throw back pools of fish, one after another. The silver bullet destroyed them, it was beautiful.
