Hey what the heck, I'm trying to get out to the Canyon for my tunas, but
Mother Nature is not cooperating very well. So,
I took my brother Joe up on doing a little bass fishing in the back of Cold
Spring Harbor. My wife Robin does come fishing when the conditions are right
and this day was a beaut. Joe loves this place, it is one of his all time
favorite fishing haunts. As soon as we got his boat out of the public launch
we saw the birds crashing in the shallows. We're talking maybe two feet
of water and the bait were trapped like rats in the corner of the bay. It
was a beautiful sight to see the bass crashing into the bait. Nuclear explosions
on the surface.

Hmmmm, what to use...top water popper what else. Blue and white was the ticket. Cast it out on the edges where the bass were coralling the bait...like the Bonanza tv show. Pop, stop, pop, stop and bam...the water explodes. You gotta love it, what a blast. Caught and released them all. We did see some cows making waves as they went right by us.

I'd stop, look around and wait to see mister bass chase the fish causing alot of comotion, then I'd cast 20 feet over the spot and bring the popper over to the site of the last attack, then I'd walk the dog with my plug. We all cuaght fish and lost a bunch, but I loved watching the bas destroy the plugs on top. It got my blood going, it was a dam good show. Cheers!
