"Twin Lakes "
March 2002

A few years ago, I wrote a a story on a lake I grew up on. Watching it's down hill progression has been like watching your child going to drugs, robbing houses and now in Federal penetentiary for murder.

New graffiti on the trees, the parks wasted a great source of money destroying it's natural banks and making nice cut wooden banks. Someone please tell me what the purpose of that is? Isn't God's work good enough? What is the point of doing all that work and spending that money? Twin Lakes are not lakes, their ponds. Repeat, ponds. They could not handle the fishing pressure that was put on them over the last few years. By the grace of God, no boats are allowed on the lake anymore. And that should be enforced to the hilt. No fishing for carp with seven rods per guy. That should make you sick. The lake used to have carp over 20 pounds. My whole point of this, Twin Lakes should be one hundred percent a no kill lake for the next five years.

It was a great crappie and bass lake. With sunnies the size of a truck driver's hand. The crappies in this lake has been dessicated. Two pound crappies are just a memory, a fairy tale from the past. Eight pound bass are far and few in between. There is no rocket science research of what these ponds need. There are no long winded political correct bull that some wanna be politician could give the patient that is in critical condition and need to recuperate.

Let this patient live, make Twin Lakes a no kill lake.

Take a picture, hang that on the wall. No more trout, they eat the bass eggs and crappie eggs. Let the lake get back to its natural habitat. So when tickets are given out, it will be a no brainer. Taking that fish home buddy, that'll be a thousand dollars. Oh, is that your boat in the lake? No, it's the county's lake and ten thousand dollars. Trust me, they'll all get the hint. Plus, Nassau county will make a wee bit of money. And if it is so hard to do a total no kill, you have to be 10 years and under to keep fish. Why would I want my child to eat a fish out of the lake that would be a science experiment to me anyway. Hey, if his liver shuts down and he starts foaming in the mouth, at least it's better than mom's cooking.

Close the lake to no kill, everything to be thrown back.
