Captain Steve
Thursday & Friday, September 4 & 5, 1997
How do you describe a blitz? Don't walk away from your rod if you like it... six or seven rods at a time going off at the same time...mates running with customers, handing rods under anchor ropes...guiding rods up, over, inbetween, whatever it takes to help land a bruiser. I give the mate, Mike, four stars...and I've seen them all! As for the Captain, Steve's history and record for tuna fishing is unmatched... let's leave it at that, period. Steve will travel whatever distances it takes to get you on top of them.
Back to fishing. We battled fish right through the night, into early morning's light...and left them biting. Every customer on the boat, has a story or two to tell for years to come. I had another shot at Mr. Swordfish, but once again he won. But there is always next time...and maybe next time he won't be so lucky! I give great thanks to Steve for having me on a great trip and to the hard working mates that worked right through the night. I will be doing one more tuna story on the upcoming 3 day trip...can't help myself! Hope to see you on it!
