Dock Fishing for Snappers

Tuesday, September 16, 1997

A float, a split shot or two and a snapper hook and don't forget your long poles. I had always used bamboo poles and now it's three piece, fiberglass poles 12 to 14 feet long. By the by...a couple of hot spots...Sheepshead Bay by the Party Boats (pictured here), Wantagh Park fishing docks and Tobay Beach on the bay side. By the Tobay boat docks, I caught and released over 90 snappers. I like using an ultra light pole and the smallest cast master you can find...toss and reel in steady. It's a killer, also good for weakfish, if they're in the mix.
