Capt. Lou VII - Freeport

Monday, April 27, 1998

What a banner day on the Captain Lou VII. My first fluke report of the year and over 80 keepers for a half day trip...with a slew of fish in the 3 lb. range. No shorties here...high low rigs, green bucktail was the color for the day. But white was doing okay...a slow drag on the bottom to kick a little sand and those puppies were all over it. A great day!

The new boat is very comfortable with full service and plenty of room. Johnny Mac has been one of my favorite captains for the bay for many years now. So guys, the fluke are in Reynolds Channel and in good size.

The day before the Lou boat caught an 8 lb. doormat and today a 6 pounder was caught by Matt G. So go wet your line and have a good time. It get's three screaming reels. By the by, the boat leaves at 8 AM and 1 PM sharp.

Some of the count went like this...Keith Bernot from Malverne with average size of 2.8 lbs...Jimmy Buffett from Lynbrook limited out with fish up to 3 lbs...Lenny from Cedarhurst with 6 fish to 3 lbs...Fred from Brooklyn with 5 fish to 3 lbs...and the pool winner was Ted Carpluk from Astoria with a 4 lb. fluke.
