Sea Queen IV - Sheepshead Bay

Tuesday, May 5, 1998

The fluke fishing has exploded in Sheepshead Bay. We have had a large body of fluke enter...most of the fish are 2 1/2 pounds and up. With quite a bit in the 3 and 4 pound category. This has been some of the best fishing this early in the season that I've seen in a long time.

It looks like a great season in the making. It would not surprise me to see some barn door fluke coming up in a week. The Sea Queen IV did a bang up job on her first fluke trip and yours truly was there, like a kid on Christmas, to enjoy it.

I personally lost over 20 fish to only bring in 4 nice fluke to 3 pounds. I know I go on and on about things, but this was a great trip. There are days where the only thing that I caught was a cold...but not today!

The Captain positioned the boat perfectly to get a great drift every time. Every customer had fluke fillets for dinner. So for a half day trip we had over 70 keepers. Go figure!

By the by, the Sea Queen will be doing a tile trip coming up later in May...don't miss it...it could be a banger trip!
