The Viking Long Range Trip - Montauk
Part III

Monday - Thursday, May 18 - 21, 1998

The days melt into one long day...the expectations by any fishermen were filled. Except of course for those few who have those off days...it happens...birds nest tangles...hooking onto the props while they are running. Not yours truly, I lost count and could care less after double digits everyday. For you diehard winter cod fishermen like myself, give yourself a treat and book yourself on the next long range trip with Steve on the Viking. And thank me later, I know you will.

The last day couldn't have ended better. Steve had a little wreck he held out on for the last day. And the cod were piled on thick, nice big slobs. We did some damage on those slobs. Everyone was filling their coolers one more time...even Steve got into the action. Oh, by the by, the second day the crew were filleting fish for 6 hours again. As for gear, red and green jelly worms for cod...purple for pollack and when the fish are slamming just load your hook with clams and hold on for that bite.

There are some excellent long range trips coming up...check the dates and book quickly...after this story the spots will go quickly. I only do stories on the best Long Island has to offer and the Viking Fleet has the history and the facts to show youone of the best. Steve thank you for a great fishing experience...Dave.

P.S. Can you guess what kind of fish this is?
