Marlin VI - Montauk
Capt. Ed Beneducci
Monday, July 20, 1998

A bad day for one person is an incredible day for someone else. This is yours truly tooting his own horn. I killed those fluke...slam dunked them into oblivion! Look, I know what I've said and bragged about the silver bullet, but using it out in Montauk with Ed's hot spots was incredible! I caught over 30 fluke...one 8 1/2 pounder, one 5 pounder, a bunch of 3 pounders and a few 2 pounders...threw the rest back, thank you very much and yes, I caught over 30 skates. I had to work over the cheap scallops to get to the fillets and a few sea bass. I fished five fish to one using the silver bullet.

Dead tide is my favorite time to use the bullet, wind against tide for a longer presentation. It beats waiting for a fuke to see your bait drag by. As for conditions it was a pretty rough day...the seas were very sloppy. Not the usual for this time of season. But it is El Nino's year of revenge.

Ed Beneducci's new boat is a working fish catching machine. Ed tries very hard...he puts in time and a half every day...and the bottom line is that he catches fish. The old fashioned way...he earns them! I highly recommend checking Ed's boat out, he won't disappoint you. Thanks Ed for an incredible day of fishing. I won't beat this one for a long time to come....Dave.
