Ocean Eagle - Sheepshead Bay

Wednesday, July 15, 1998

Where are the sea bass? The Ocean Eagle knows. Greg finds them again and all nice little piggies. I took my son, Michael, with me. Micahel is the fisherman's lazy son..."OK Dad, this is the deal, you hook 'em and I'll reel them in." At moments like this, I give him the Sicilian eye...he looks right back at me with the younger version of the Sicilian eye...I give in...he's good!

Anyway a good day, all in all...I hooked a bunch of golden black sea bass and Michael reeled them in. The boat got over 200 sea bass easy. Look, I gave you a hot tip...use it or lose it! By the by, the crowd has been light...summer dulldrums...El Nino Psychosis...wives with short chains...who knows...translation, no crowding!

A Special Note: Sheepshead Bay has been red hot with fluke fishing all year and still is right now. The bluefish are a bit of a trip but well worth it on the Brooklyn to get to the gorilla blues. The Princess has been doing a job on the fluke. The night weak fish trips have really cooked up...no empty buckets here. And, as I mentioned above, the sea bass fishing has been great. Sheepshead Bay sometimes is over looked as a hot spot for fishing. Parking is easy and the boats leave throughout the day. So get out of that hot house and go on the cool ocean and catch some dinner...bring the kids. Give the wife a day off alone. She'll love you for it and the kids will have a blast!
